One of the more beautiful details of the Art Deco styling of the Greyhound Scenicruiser are the Corner lights. They are a graceful aluminum casting that fits the flow of the body perfectly and houses a glass red or amber lens. The problem is, and you may have caught it in the last sentance..... the lenses are glass. Real glass, and they break The front amber ones in particular, are suseptible to getting broken primarily due to drivers swinging up to the side of the road and using the front corner of the coach as a "Curb Feeler" for trees. The stray road rock or the like also helps out here.
These lenses are getting VERY hard to find these days. Especially the front amber ones which are exclusive to the Scenicruiser. The red rear ones are shared with the 4104. Both of my fronts were broken and had been glued and siliconed back together over the years. In analyzing them I found that the fronts and rears on the Scenicruiser are the same, except for the color. So we made a set of molds and sourced a suitable source of acrylic resin and dye and made a new set of lenses out of plastic. They look identical to the originals, right down to the numbers cast into the original glass.
We haven't made a batch of these for a while but we presently have a number of people already on a waiting list so... It's time to make some again.
The cost is $90/pair either Red or Amber. That includes shipping.
